Well, autumn has already begun with the beginning of the September. In Japan, autumn is also called Koyo or “red leaf” season. The changing season is very much a part of Japanese culture. Autumn is not as famous as Sakura season, but it is even more amazing.
The specialty of Koyo season is the view of the brightly colored spectacle. The brilliants reds, yellows and oranges can be seen throughout the country, moving from North to South. Their dazzling colors glow with the sun and its reflection in the river is amazing. Unlike the Spring Hanami viewing with jolly sake parties, Koyo season is more subdued, and it’s the time for long walks and for quiet contemplation.
Autumn also brings a number of festivals throughout the country as Jidai Matsuri or Festival of the Ages, Shichi-Go-San festival and so on.
